So Thankful!

Many times during the holiday seasons we'll get so stressed and caught up in making everything just right that we miss the real reason of it all. I know, I've been guilty of this very thing. But, today I really wanted to focus on being thankful. God has blessed me incredibly!

This is a list of just a few things I'm thankful for. It'd be impossible to list them all. ;)
*Jesus Christ...for saving my life!
*My amazing family, for always being there and supporting me.
*The incredibly encouraging friends God's given me. I love you!
*For my church family. You are awesome!
*That I'm making good grades in school and at the college. I'd never be able to do it without the Lord keeping me motivated and being with me through every Medical Terminology test. ;) And my mom being there, praying for me, and teaching me every step of the way.
*Music. Encouraging, uplifting, Christian music that I can learn things from.
*I'm thankful for YOU! Yes, you read right my dear bloggers. You have brightened many a day.
*That I haven't wrecked a vehicle. Thank you, Lord!
*For a great day! Happy Thanksgiving!
~~~
We got to host Thanksgiving this year at our house! Even though it took a lot of preparation, it was a lot of fun! Here's pictures of my wonderful family and friends eating Thanksgiving dinner:
This would include my grandparents, great grandma, 2 sets of uncles and aunts, a family friend, and my brother and me. (I'm in the brown...back right corner.)
Here's the second table which includes my parents, brother, sister, and 2 cousins.
All in all we had about 16 people over. :) My baby cousins put on a show for us, singing and dancing. They were SO cute!
We're getting ready to go pick out our Christmas tree! (I soo can't believe Christmas is almost here...again! lol) It's something we do every Thanksgiving...put up our Christmas tree. I can't wait! Be ready for a post on our tree soon. :)
I hope everyone had a fantastic day! Happy Thanksgiving!
P.S. Don't forget! The Movie Quotes Contest answers and winner will be up Sunday! So if you haven't entered your answers, hurry fast! ;)
Movie Quotes Contest
{Note: This contest is now closed.}
Hi everybody! Guess what?! It's Movie Quotes Contest time! I hope you enjoy this. :) And I'd really love it if you participated in the fun. The movies I picked all pretty much have one thing in common: I love them! Hehe! ;) So here's some rules you'll need to know:
There are 20 quotes in all. You need to know the movie title and the names of the character(s) in the movie who says the quote. I won't dock off points for spelling or anything. ;) No cheating, please. This would include looking up quotes on the internet. I don't mind if you ask a family member or friend for help or if you watch the movie you think the quote may be in. This contest will be up for 1 week. I'll post the answers and the winner sometime next Sunday night.
Oh, by the way, want to mention something before we get started. I ClearPlay a lot of the movies I watch. ClearPlay pretty much takes out the bad things in a movie so they're appropriate to watch. So, if you're wondering why I've seen some of these movies (maybe because they have questionable things in them) that's why...we have ClearPlay. :)
So...let the fun begin!
Humbled at DQ
I thought I'd share a little funny/ embarrassing story on myself. I'm trusting you all not to laugh at me too hard, though. ;)
As you know, I'm learning to drive and I've been practicing a lot lately and my parents have both been helping me learn and stuff. Well, I started to get pretty confident in my driving skills. (Ha!) So...after church last week I drove my sister and my mom home. It was just us...the guys had to stay late at church for something. We walk in the door and a brilliant idea pops into my head. I go over to my mom, put on my very best "pretty please" face, and ask if I can drive over to Dairy Queen and we can treat ourselves to mini blizzards. (By the way, I love the new mini blizzards!!) She says yes!
I'm pretty happy of course and get in the driver's seat and drive to DQ. It's only about 3 minutes or so from our house. I pull in and head for the drive through. There's a yellow line. I instinctively think, as a new driver, that I'm supposed to be on my side. What I didn't realize was that the yellow line was just there to section off the drive through traffic from the other cars. Whoops. I'm now way over from the speaker and have to practically yell my order. But...ya know...I cut myself some slack. It was my second time in a drive through. What would one expect? (Psst! *Warning!* It gets worse. lol)
So, after I ordered I drive on up, get over where I'm supposed to, and wait to get my mini blizzard. After I paid, the nice lady handed over half of our order and turns around. I'm getting stuff passed out and suddenly realize. I'm moving. My mom yells, "Break, Katie!" I start yelling...to the car itself, "Stop, stop!" I finally find my break...and I'm atleast two feet in front of where I'm supposed to be and have to reach back and get the rest of our order. We were all laughing so hard I had to compose myself before turning onto the street!
This shows me something though. The Lord must have a sense of humor sometimes when He's trying to teach His children a lesson. ;)
While we're on the subject of Dairy Queen... What's your favorite blizzard flavor? This is mine:
Mmmm! Yummy!
Well...I hope you enjoyed my story. ;) That's all for now. Good night and sleep tight my dearest blogger friends.
New "Do"...Plus a Special Thanks
I got my hair done today! I really feel like a new person. Haha! ;) I got it cut, permed, and got my brows waxed.
Anyway, wanted to show you my new look. :) What do ya think?
Good-bye hair... I got about 5 inches cut off.
And the finished product...*drum roll*...twa-da! Do you like it? I know I do!
Now...if all you're thinking is "Whoaa...poofy!" some of that will go away. ;) lol
I think this picture is my favorite one. :)
I want to say thank you BIG time to my awesome brother, Zachary, who took these pictures of me. And not only that, but put up with my clothes changing and girly poses. ;) But! It doesn't stop there! Ya know the picture of me laying in the yard? Zach got up in a tree to take that! Yes, you read right...a tree! So, thanks again Zach!
But, as much as I'd like to brag on my brother, I have a few other very special people to thank as well. Today is veteran's day. And I'd like to recognize the amazing men and women who have served and are serving currently for our country (my Daddy included). *applause* Thank you so much!!
This song by Mark Schultz is really great! Please take a few minutes to listen to it. God bless! :)
"Specky"
^This is a new word...that I had the pleasure of making up myself. ;) Here's what it means:
Specky- Pretty small in the grand scheme of life. Like a speck in comparison.
Mom, my brother Zach, and I were riding home after a meeting with a consultant at the college the other night. We went over what each of us would be doing next semester and so on. Thinking about the large work load I was going to be getting in the next year left me pretty stressed and worried. Zachary was also stressed about an oral presentation (his first) he had to make in the coming week. Mom stopped us there and said, "You know, if you really think about it, these worries are like a speck compared to the rest of your life and the whole grand scheme of things." (Hence, my new word. lol) I thought, "Wow, is that right or what?"
A lot of the time, at least in my life I know, the things I spend time worrying and stressing over are pretty small...and specky.
Now, I want to direct your attention to a friend of mine. This is Emily:
Emily's Cancer Blog :: Pray for Emily
She's 16 years old and has leukemia. I've been following her blog for about a month and a half now. I heard about Operation: Combat and decided to participate in the fast that a fellow blogger started for Emily. I've been fasting from facebook for a little over 2 weeks or so now and praying for her.
Friday I found out Emily had liver failure. She's in ICU right now. When something like this happens...I don't know...everything else just seems to shrink and become very small. Specky.
I want to ask you (if you haven't already been) to pray for Emily. Even though I've never met her in person, Emily has become very dear to me...as I know she has to many of you. :) So, please keep her in your prayers. Thank you!
A Few Questions from Me to You
So, dear blogger friends, I have a few questions. For you. ;) Here we goes...
#1: I am seriously considering getting my hair cut. Was wondering what you thought... This is a recent picture of me with long(ish) hair:
I found a picture in a magazine that I really liked and tried to find one like it on the internet. This one below is sorda what I'd be going for...but it's not exactly like the one I have. :)
{Not my photo.}
So... What do you think?
#2: This is a question for my more experienced than I blogger friends. ;) Almost every blog I follow has a watermark on their pictures. Do I need one of these? If I do need one, how would I make it?
#3: Does anybody else out there pick their nails when they get stressed? Random question I know...I'm just wondering. I had a test last week and...let's just say my nails are very "picked." ;)
#4: Would anybody be interested in participating in a movie quotes contest if I had one on my blog? There wouldn't be a prize...other than bragging rights. lol I want to save a giveaway for my 100th post. Which is coming up by the way, so be prepared! (This is post 63...in case you were wondering.) I just thought a movie quotes contest would be a fun thing to do, so please let me know if you'd be interested.
Please feel free to answer these in a comment or e-mail. Thank you! :)
