Apes & Oreos

Thought this was funny, so decided to put it on here! :)

Today, a little while ago, Mom declares that it's lunch time and we all head upstairs to get ourselves something to eat. We see that Logan has obviously beaten us to the kitchen. He had on a blue apron that came almost to his ankles, one of my mom's. He says, chin lifted, "I'm fixing lunch today!" and leans against the microwave. Then he points to something on the counter and says, "And he's my helper!" We all shift our gazes to the kitchen counter and find Logan's stuffed ape sitting there with another of mom's aprons (she has quite a few) draped over it's shoulders. *laughs* ;)

I settle into a kitchen chair with my hot dog that my little 9-year-old brother lovingly fixed for me. ;) Once I finished I go to the cabnet where we keep all the things you shouldn't really eat, and find a brand new package of Oreo cookies. Yumm! So I pour myself a cup of milk and sit down once again. Then my brother Zach looks over at me as I open up the Oreos and says, "Don't eat all the Oreos, Katie!" He's being most serious might I add. That's something I'll remember for a while....my brother, not only suggesting, but demanding I NOT eat an entire package of Oreo cookies! Ha!

Snow Angel

I have a story for ya! ;)

It was very early on a snowy January morning. We're out and about, all 6 of us...it was still dark...about 5 AM to be exact. Paper route. :)

We were close to finishing up. On one of the last streets. And Logan wants to get out and help. So he runs around with Zach, tossing papers. Then suddenly he flops himself down in someone's driveway and does a snow angel. We're all like, "Get up Logan! Come on!", laughing at him!

About a week after that day we get a card in the mail from somebody on our route. Now this was not unusual. We had gotten tons of cards and tips in the mail from our people on our route. It was really neat...like Christmas every day! So we open this particular card and what do we find when we read it?

Dear Allen & Julie Lake,
I am an elderly lady (almost 70) and not in very good health.
I want to thank you for your good service in delivering my paper.
And also for the snow angel in my drive way early morning on Jan. 7th. :)

Neat huh?! It's amazing how the little things, that we think are so insignificant can mean so much to another person.

Yea!!

I got an 89% on my Old Testament Survey test the other day! I was very happy! lol So that would be #1 Yea! ;)

#2 Yea! is...we're having a youth lock-in tomorrow at my church! My youth pastor says that the way he does lock-ins is that nobody falls asleep. So it should be interesting. Haha! I don't think I've ever stayed up all night and then all of the next morning before. I know for a fact I'll be sleeping most of Saturday afternoon away. lol

Random Thoughts

So...I was sitting in bed last night thinking about random things. One thing that came to mind was when I get my laptop I should so start a journal on it because I can never keep a journal in a notebook. I think it has something to do with writing with a pencil/ pen. Makes my hand hurt. ;) lol Anyway...that led to me thinking about my blog and how it was kinda like an online journal. And then I was like, I should so write on my blog more often! So it is very possible that I'll be writing on here more often. And just about random things....not necessarily special events or occurrences all the time. :)

So, today I have a big Old Testament Survey test. I feel pretty good about it. Old Testament has been my favorite subject this school year so far. Anyways, wish me luck! lol

Merry CHRISTmas!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I did! :) I got about 5 CDs, a bunch of movies, some nice clothes, 2 books by my favorite author, and some money. Also, we do some special traditions every Christmas I'd like to tell ya'll about.

We always do something we call 'Pepperoni Blessings'. We usually order pizza and have it delivered to the house. Then we'll give the pizza man a gift and a tip. This year we did it a little different and went to Wendy's. There's this reallly nice hostess there that's super nice! So we gave her a gift and a gift card. Her co-workers were all crowded around her and her boss praised her like big time! It was a very neat experience!

On Christmas Eve we'll always go to my Grandparent's house and have our Christmas with them. We have snacks and open presents and play games! Very fun!

Then Christmas morning, the BIG day ;), we'll get up and see if Santa came! Of course, he always has! ;) lol We'll look in our stockings first, then we sing Happy Birthday to Jesus, and then open our gifts. After all the presents are opened and wrapping paper has littered the living room floor, Mom will put her apron on and cook a huge delicious brunch! My grandparent's, uncle, aunt, and 2 baby cousins will come to our house and eat.

Christmas night is special. We have a birthday party for Jesus. Each one of us have a special gift for Jesus. It's something that we either promise to start doing or promise to give up. And we have to stick with it. This year Momma had us all pick out what we thought was our spiritual gift and find out a way to give it back to Jesus. And that's how we end Christmas Day.

The next morning though we go on a big shopping spree! A chance for us to spend our Christmas money and gift cards. We usually, every year, "shop 'til we drop"! lol

So...all together I had a wonderful CHRISTmas! God bless!

Happy Late Thanksgiving & Black Friday

Hope everyone's Thanksgiving was awesome! Mine was! :) We had ours at my aunt and uncle's house this year. Oh my word, there was so much food! I ate so much that if I even thought about food afterwards, I felt sick to my stomach. lol It was all delicious though!

After we went home we put up our Christmas tree. It's something we do every Thanksgiving. This year we actually had a real live tree! We haven't had one since I was a baby and I don't remember it so it was quite exciting going to pick it out and then putting it up. It was also my turn to put the star on top (we take turns every year). It was my last time doing it as a kid...in 4 years I'll be 19 years old. Hard to imagine!

The day after Thanksgiving was Black Friday. It was my first time ever going shopping on the busiest shopping day of the year! I woke up at 4 AM and we hurried out of the house to the superly packed Walmart! lol It was so much fun! We got a lot of good deals and there's just something about shopping so early in the morning in the freezing cold that's exciting and thrilling...I don't know. ;)

Update

I haven't written on here in a long time! :/ Everything's been pretty good. I'm actually enjoying school. I have a new program called Switched On Schoolhouse (SOS) that's all on the computer! So now the only thing I have in a textbook is Algebra 2 and still do some of that on the computer. Also SOS does all the grading for you! It's neat! :-)
