Dreams for the New Year

Happy New Year!  It's 2011.  Wow!  I can't believe it!  The 365 days of 2010 went by so fast for me.  Did it for you?

I was reading Megan's blog, Me. {That's All I Have To Be}, and I really liked her idea of listing the dreams and plans she had for the coming year.  So I thought I'd do the same. :)

These are some things that I'd like to be different in this new year:

Stop procrastinating.
I can be the biggest procrastinator sometimes.  Ok...a lot of the time.  I want that to stop.  Instead of putting something off that doesn't really appeal to me at the time, I want to get it done.  Now.

Use time wisely.
Time can be so short.  Life can be so short.  I don't want to sound morbid, but it's true.  I want to spend more of my time with God and my family and (much) less time on my computer or with my nose in a book.

    Pray more.
In 2009 I sorda "learned" to pray, I guess you could say.  Instead of it being a routine, it's a conversation between my Savior and me.  But this year I really want to focus on praying without ceasing.  And also really praying for someone when I tell them I will.

Write.
It's one word, but it means a lot to me because it reminds me of how little I do it.  I'm writing a story (that I don't call a book...yet, lol).  I really want to finish it.  Really want to.  I just have to put in the time and the effort.  And this year, 2011, I am going to commit to do that.  I'm going to!  It feels good to say that. ;)

Keep my room clean.
I know this sounds really trivial and it reminds me of when I was like ten and Mom had to remind me to clean my bedroom.  "Go clean your room, Katie."  But I'm almost 17...and when things get busy, or should I say I get preoccupied, the basic things like cleaning my room and house hold chores go on the back burner.  Again, like I said above, I need to use my time more wisely, and do the things that are important before I get on my computer or pop in a movie.

Siesta Scripture Memory
Has anyone heard of the Siesta Scripture Memory Team that Beth Moore is putting together?  Everyone who signs up, picks a verse 2 times a month (on the first and the fifteenth) to memorize. By the end of 2011, we'll each have 24 scriptures memorized.  My mom, sister, and I are doing it this year and I want to commit to finishing.

New Year's Prayer
Dear Lord,
Thank You for this new year, 2011.  Thank You for an amazing 2010.  Please guide me in the way You want me to go this year.  Help me keep these commitments and follow through.  With You, I know I'll be able to do it.  Thank You for being with me through everything.  I love You!
Amen

Those are my dreams and commitments for 2011.  What are yours?
