Christmas Garland

I know, it's like five days 'til Christmas and I should have posted this like weeks ago.  Ha!  But better late than never, right? ;)


This is a craft that is super easy!  We've been doing it for years and have garlands for just about every holiday.  So, I thought I would share it with all of you. :)


Here's what you need:

• scissors
• rope
• tape
• fabric
• grocery bag (optional)

Instructions:


First you need to get some rope.  About this size:

Or you could go a little thicker:

Then you need to cut it off.  Make sure it's big enough to go across a door frame or around a tree.  Then take a small piece of tape and wrap it around the end so the rope doesn't ravel.  Like so...

Then pick out some nice fabric.  I chose this red plaid...thought it was Christmasy. :)

Now it's time to cut your fabric.  You can go all sizes or lengths.  I suggest ranging from about 1in. - 1cm. in width and about 6in. long.

I use a grocery bag to keep all my supplies in...that way it's portable and not messy.

Now you just tie the strips of fabric to your rope.  Just one knot (not a double knot) will do the trick. :)


Also, I suggest putting something in between you and the fabric when you're cutting it and when you tie it on the rope because you'll get 'little threads' (lol) all over your clothing.  Trust me, I know from first hand experience. ;)  So, maybe a blanket or a table top.

Once you get more than one strip of fabric on the rope you'll have to start pushing them together to make it look full and thick.

 

Then, when you're done, you can hang it on your door frame or wrap it around a tree.  I twisted one around my bed frame one time. :)  And, like I said before, we have garlands for almost every holiday.  All you need to do is pick out different fabric.

6. What's one material item you couldn't live without?  My laptop. Hehe ;)

7. If you had to choose between doing your hair and doing your make up which would it be? Well...now that my hair is short(er) it is much easier to fix.  But I think make up is more fun to do. ;)  So I think I'll choose make up.

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.  With every Christmas card I write.  May your days be merry and bright.  And may all your Christmases be white."


Where I live it is pretty rare to have snow on Christmas day.  The last time that happened was...a very long time ago. ;)  But, nobody says we can't dream, right?


We got our first "sticky" (it actually stuck to the ground) snow a couple days ago.  It was about 3 inches.  Nothing huge.  But still pretty. :)


Anyway...enough talk...I wanted to show you some pictures. ;)

Glory in the Highest

Gosh...it's been a whole week since I've posted on here!  I'm sorry for neglecting...  This has been me the past week: "I need to post on my blog...but I'm so busy. But I need to post on my blog....but I'm so busy!" :P 


Anyway, onto the post. ;)  We got to see one of our all time favorite Christian musicians Friday night at the Glory In The Highest concert!  How cool!  Wanna know who it was...?

Chris Tomlin

*ecstatic squeals*  The concert was seriously awesome!  It was probably one of the best I've ever been to.  If not the best.  Even though I've only been to *cough, cough* four concerts in my life..... lol

Chris Tomlin started out with several awesome Christmas songs because it was a Christmas concert.  But then he did some of his amazing oldies.  Like "Holy is the Lord".  Along with some of his newer ones like "I Will Follow".  I sang at the top of my lungs the whole night!  I am not kidding, my voice was hoarse afterwards.

I had never really been to a worship concert before.  It was amazing!  Thousands of people raising their hands and praising God.  Wow...it was awesome!

After Chris Tomlin sang, Louie Giglio came up to speak.  Which was so cool!  The first time I had heard of him was on the "How Great Is Our God" video.  It was amazing the way he explained things and how easy it was to grasp it.  So I was really excited about seeing him.  He spoke on the Christmas story and did an amazing job!

Something that Chris Tomlin said during the night was that Jesus was the only person who chose to be born.  I had never thought about that...but He is!  He chose to came and live in our chaotic crazy world...because He loves us that much.  What amazing love!

We had an amazing time!  The tickets for the concert were actually our Christmas gift from my aunt and uncle and cousins.  So thank you so much!!  It was amazing!  (I know, I've used that word a lot...but it really was! lol)

1. What's your favorite things about the Christmas season?
Oh, there are so too many to choose from... I'm gonna go for picking out our Christmas tree and decorating it with my family. (You can see us doing that in my last post.)


2. What all are you thankful for?
Too many things to list.  Jesus, my family, friends, a warm home, my church family...  You can see more things I'm thankful for here at my Thanksgiving post.


3. What are you doing for your next birthday?
I'll be turning 17.  Wow... lol  I'm not sure what I'm doing yet.  I'm trying to talk my mom into letting my sister and I do a small joint sleepover party (because our birthdays are only a couple weeks apart).  We shall see... ;)


4. What is your favorite book?
I have a ton of favorite books.  But here's one I absolutely love and have read like 3 times and totally recommend.

Hmmm... "Leap Year."  Because I've watched it many times already and wouldn't mind watching it again.  And because it still makes me laugh. ;)

My main goal, right now anyway, is to finish college and become a nurse.  My main dream is to get married and have a family of my own some day.

Oh Christmas Tree

"Oh Christmas tree, Oh Christmas tree, thy leaves are so unchanging..."

So, sadly, we had to break tweak our Christmas tree tradition. The place we get our Christmas tree apparently closes early on Thanksgiving Day...so we had to wait 'til the day after Thanksgiving.

Logan: "Why can't we go to the woods and cut down our own tree?"

Annie: "We don't have an ax."

Me: "We don't have a woods."

So, we did the next best thing and went down the street to the Kroger store. ;)  Here's some pictures of us getting our tree and decorating...

So, we have a little tradition in our house.  Ya know how everybody wants to put up the star?  'Cause it goes on top and is 'important'? lol  Well, we take turns.  Every year is somebody else's turn.  And we go in birth order.  This year was Zachary's turn.  (Also...another little tradition.  Dad has always picked us up.  Haha!)

Last year was my turn.  Here's me putting up the star. :)

We're done!  Our tree may not be the 'prettiest' but it's made up of years of memories.  From home made crafts to funny ornaments we picked out as kids.  I love it!

I have one amazing family.  Just sayin'. ;)  (And yes, I'm on my brother's back. lol)
