Graduation

 Instead of picking one gown color, we decided to be a rainbow.

It happened.  I graduated.  I am officially a high school graduate and a college freshman.


My weekend was amazing.  If I tried to thank every person individually here and now I know for certain I'd leave somebody out... So, thank you to everyone who attended my graduation; you are the bomb.  Thank you to all the behind the scenes people that made this thing happen; everything was beautiful.  And one big thank you to my parents who put in so much hard work and dedication these last many years to giving me the best education possible.


What an incredible journey I've had up 'til now.  It's been so fun...and gone by so fast.


Am I ready for this growing up thing?  I think so.  God'll be with me.  I can do it.


The song below was kind of my theme song for graduation.  It says that if we're living and breathing, we have something to say.  That if our heart is beating, we have a message to share.  God's love is in us and speaks through us.  That is my hope for the coming years...that the Lord will shine through me.

Dear Lord,
You are an awesome God! Thank you for the freedom to pray. Thank you for this day that's set aside.

I pray for our schools. Not only the schools in my area, but everywhere. Thank you that we can have an education. I pray for home schools, private schools, and public schools. I pray for the teachers, parents, and students. Lord make schools and education the way they are meant to be. And I pray we can put You back in schools.

I pray for the rally we're having tonight. 600 teenagers gathered together praising Your Name! Wow. Please fill that place with Your Spirit.

Less than 10 Dollars

What can you get for less than ten bucks? Well, this year for me, it was school supplies. Are you wondering how? I'll show you. :)

I found these folders with Bible verses on them in a two-pack for $2.50 at Walmart. Love them!

I bought the white binder for $1.78 and then used things I already had, such as the ribbon, stickers, and colored card stock, to decorate it the way I wanted.

$0.25 notebooks! Oh yeah!

This backpack was free, courtesy of a friend. (I haven't had to use a backpack since 4th grade...what a weird feeling!) You may be saying, "I can't go around asking my friends for a backpack, Katie." Check out your local consignment shops or Goodwill store. You can find barely used name brands pretty easy sometimes for great prices.

Back-To-School

First day of school.

Starting college classes.

Well, it's that time again! For most kids starting school is a big leap back into routines and schedules and home work. It's a little different for us. We school year round mostly, taking breaks when we need/ want to. I like it better this way I think. Before, I got bored during the summer. lol But, it's still hard to believe I'm starting my Junior year of high school. Someone recently asked me what grade I was in. When I told them I was starting 11th they said, "Oh, so you're on your way out." I guess so... That's a startling, and kind of scary fact.

Zachary and I started classes out at the community college today. We are in a program called Discover College where you can get a jump start on your education. I'm taking Health Services. By the end of my Junior year, I'll have my CNA. It's really a very neat program, and I'm thankful for the opportunity to do this. Both Zach and I will definitely have to get used to it, though. Walking around on a college campus as a student, at the age of 14 and 16. Yikes! Mom gave us each a memory verse to take with us to class this morning. Here's mine:

"I will say to the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.'"

Psalm 91:2

This reminds me that, though I may be uncertain about my future, which I am right now, to take it one day at a time and not worry. I am in the care of the Lord Almighty!

What to Write??

So...I know I said I'd start writing on here more.....and I know I'm not really doing that. Ha! Here's my problem:

*What do I write about??

My life really isn't that interesting! LOL ;)

Well, today is the start of a new week. Not really looking forward to going to school tomorrow. I have 2, maybe 3 quizes I need to study for and take this week. So, wish me luck! Heehee!

Yea!!

I got an 89% on my Old Testament Survey test the other day! I was very happy! lol So that would be #1 Yea! ;)

#2 Yea! is...we're having a youth lock-in tomorrow at my church! My youth pastor says that the way he does lock-ins is that nobody falls asleep. So it should be interesting. Haha! I don't think I've ever stayed up all night and then all of the next morning before. I know for a fact I'll be sleeping most of Saturday afternoon away. lol

Will write more later.. :)

Random Thoughts

So...I was sitting in bed last night thinking about random things. One thing that came to mind was when I get my laptop I should so start a journal on it because I can never keep a journal in a notebook. I think it has something to do with writing with a pencil/ pen. Makes my hand hurt. ;) lol Anyway...that led to me thinking about my blog and how it was kinda like an online journal. And then I was like, I should so write on my blog more often! So it is very possible that I'll be writing on here more often. And just about random things....not necessarily special events or occurrences all the time. :)

So, today I have a big Old Testament Survey test. I feel pretty good about it. Old Testament has been my favorite subject this school year so far. Anyways, wish me luck! lol

Update

I haven't written on here in a long time! :/ Everything's been pretty good. I'm actually enjoying school. I have a new program called Switched On Schoolhouse (SOS) that's all on the computer! So now the only thing I have in a textbook is Algebra 2 and still do some of that on the computer. Also SOS does all the grading for you! It's neat! :-)
